Lexus SUVs have long been recognized as one of the most reliable mid-size luxury SUVs on the market, with an established reputation of being a reliable, spacious and luxurious choice of vehicle. However, the latest 2020 Lexus comes with a heavy price tag and offers no exceptional revamps to their 2019 predecessors, making the precious year’s models all the more appealing.
Let’s look at some of the most popular 2019 models of Lexus SUVs and consider what they have to offer in terms of functionality, design, attractiveness, and handling.
Lexus RX 2019
The Rx remains one of the more refreshingly modern and edgier designs for the midsize luxury SUV category in the market. The new look of the model makes a bold statement, the sharp curves and angular styling are designed to make the Rx stand out from its competitors. The exterior of the SUV breaks the monotony and the color choices make for a more visual intrigue in the model.¹ A strong V6 engine supports the RX in terms of performance as well as looks. While the RX can tackle anything urban, it’s performance off-road is severely limited. But with a 3.5-liter engine and 295 horsepower the RX is a joyful ride to breeze through the city with.
The Upside
- An eye catchy design
- A solid V6 engine
- Decent fuel economy
- A state of the art interior
- Full of features
The downside
- Lack of automatic driving
- Lack of Cargo space
- Poor towing capabilities
Lexus UX 2019
The initials of the UX stand for Urban Crossover.² The UX is essentially considered a cross between the larger RX and NX in the line of Lexus’s family of SUVs. The UX comes with an added edge of hybrid power giving it a certain edge over the other line of Lexus SUVs. It’s sharp and edgier design carries on the legacy of modernist designs and approach. The hybrid engine of the UX comprises a 2.0 litre patrol engine. It is also powered through an electric motor which produces a power output of 182 horsepower. The patrol engine also reduces the noise created in the other counterparts. The UX drive is considered best on carpeted roads, while on the rippled services the UX could not be the most comfortable of the Lexus Models. The UX’s interior is spacious, while definitely not comparable to its larger counterparts, the UX offers a spacious experience to its users.
The Upside
- Low Carbon Emissions
- Interior quality
- Good urban Drive
The Downside
- Backseat space is cramped
- Towing capability is low standard
- Boot is small
Lexus NX 2019
The Lexus NX 2019 is among the larger of the its counterparts.³ The vehicle has some of the best upholstery of the counterparts and offers a comfortable drive. The larger size of the vehicle makes for even driving around the bumpier roads and environments. The acceleration is definitely not a huge addition in the vehicle, it is however still one of the speedier and more enthralling options around. Powered by a 2.0-liter, 235 horsepower turbo-charged engine, the NX carries the necessary power to make for easy driving. A six speed, automatic front wheel with an all-wheel drive option is also available.
The Upside
- Economic fuel costs
- A wonderful interior
- Tremendous multimedia options
The Downside
- Low powered engine
- Poor maneuverability
Final Verdict
To sum it up, Lexus is a joyful ride. There is so much to love about the car making it hard to find flaws and things to hate about this splendid piece of craftsmanship.⁴ It is modernist, efficient and precise. The Japanese car manufacturers have once again shown their brilliance with the Lexus. By making a vehicle so fulfilling that it leaves little more to desire they have shown their superior engineering. Avoiding the American philosophy of placing more power on the engine, the Japanese manufacturers have just let it have enough power to have a comfortable drive and gain the ultimate driving experience. While giving the Lexus tremendous utilities, design and features. Perhaps, the most lovable point of the Lexus, is its convenient thorough completeness.
